News – August 12th 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the new date for the real opening of the last section Obewald – Gletsch.
\n I know the opening of this section was announced several times with different dates. Now I can affirm August 2010 will be the real opening!
\n Ten years after Gletsch, the train will arrive at Oberwald!<\/p>\n

C’est la nouvelle date pour l’ouverture r\u00e9elle de la derni\u00e8re section Oberwald – Gletsch.
\n Je sais, l’ouverture de cette section a \u00e9t\u00e9 annonc\u00e9e d\u00e9j\u00e0 plusieurs fois \u00e0 des dates diff\u00e9rentes. Maintenant je peux l’affirmer, l’ouverture effective ce sera pour ao\u00fbt 2010!
\n Dix ans apr\u00e8s Gletsch, le train arrive enfin \u00e0 Oberwald!<\/em><\/p>\n

The Gletsch – Oberwald section (unfinished section)<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

This section is the third section of the line and it is the last section which is still at the same state as in 1982, when the last FO train passed on this section. Everything has to be done to reopen this section. We still need 5 more years of work!
\n A bridge has been swept away in 2000 (8)!
\n The main interesting features of this section are:
\n – level crossing (3)
\n – an almost 360\u00b0 helical tunnel with rack (9). There are only 2 tunnels like this in Switzerland, this one which is closed and the only one which is open at Gengiols on the FO line. May be this kind of tunnel is unique in the world!
\n – the bridge over the Rhone River (6)
\n – a bridge over the road (7)
\n – level crossing (4) for a forestry path
\n– level crossing (5) with retractable cog across\u00a0 Furka road.
\n
\n La section Gletsch – Oberwald (section non termin\u00e9e)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Cette section est la troisi\u00e8me section de la ligne et la derni\u00e8re \u00e0 r\u00e9ouvrir. Elle est m\u00eame rest\u00e9e dans l’\u00e9tat de 1982, date de la fermeture de la ligne apr\u00e8s l’ouverture du tunnel de la Furka. Il faudra encore 5 ans de travaux avant d’ouvrir cette derni\u00e8re section! En 2000 un pont avait m\u00eame \u00e9t\u00e9 emport\u00e9 (8)!
\n Les principales caract\u00e9ristiques de cette section:
\n – passage \u00e0 niveau (3)
\n – un tunnel h\u00e9lico\u00efdal \u00e0 cr\u00e9maill\u00e8re de presque 360\u00b0 (9). Il y a seulement 2 tunnels de cette sorte en Suisse, celui l\u00e0 qui est ferm\u00e9 et le seul qui est en service \u00e0 Gengiols sur la ligne FO. Il est possible que ces tunnels soient uniques au monde!
\n – le seul pont sur le Rh\u00f4ne de la ligne (6)
\n – un pont sur la route (7)
\n – passage \u00e0 niveau (4) pour un chemin forestier
\n– passage \u00e0 niveau (5) avec cr\u00e9maill\u00e8re escamotable pour traverser la route de la Furka.<\/em><\/p>\n
